Itinerary at a Glance
After your breakfast at the hotel, your guide will drive your private 4 x 4 safari Jeep to Lake Manyara National Park. After arriving you will do a short walking safari ( treetop walking tour) accompanied by a ranger then do a short game drive until lunchtime where you will have your picnic lunch before resuming for an unlimited game drive after.
During game drives, we’ll look for the famous tree-climbing lions and it will be hard to miss those brilliant large flocks of fuchsia flamingoes. But we’ll also be on the prowl for elephants, giraffes, warthogs, and the small, shy dik-dik.
We’ll take an evening drive, leaving the park, and head up the towering escarpment for wonderful views. Reach your lodge located at Mtowambu in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Today after enjoying breakfast at your hotel drive to the Ngorongoro conservation area for about 3hrs, upon arrival you will descend on the crater floor and enjoy a full day of game viewing on the Ngorongoro Crater floor. Called the eighth wonder of the world, the crater won’t fail to take your breath away as you stand on the rim looking down a 10-mile wide crater floor with abundant wildlife. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken volcanic caldera in the world covering approximately 260 sq. km with walls rising 600 meters from the crater floor. Before the Ngorongoro Volcano exploded and collapsed 2 million years ago the area was home to some of the tallest mountains it is home to more than 30,000 large mammals – mainly gazelle, buffalo, eland, hyenas, lions, wildebeest, and warthog – and has the highest predator density in the world. Later ascend from the crater and drive to your lodge at Mtowambu for dinner and overnight.
Today you will visit the Masai boma and experience one of the most known African ethnic tribes in the world. The Masai are an indigenous ethnic group of semi-nomadic people living in northern Tanzania and Kenya, and they are the only group allowed free travel over the border. The Masai reside near many game parks and their dress is very distinctive. Consequently, you will learn about their daily activities like cattle herding, boma building, milking their cattle, slaughtering their animals, etc. After completing your will drive back to Arusha to overnight or board your flight back home, this will depend on your flight details.
