Mikumi National Park has the area approximately 3230 km² and is the fourth largest park in Tanzania, close to the Largest bustling business city of Dar es salaam this park is easily accessible by paved road all along and it’s four hours’ drive from the city, means you can visit the park on the same day and return for overnight in the big city the very same day although there are good hotels found in Morogoro the region the park is located,
The Park is so vast that if you want to explore it you need some days to do so although if you are lucky, you can see the Big Five on same day.
Flora and Fauna,
The vegetation of the park is most like that of the Serengeti national park consists of savanna accompanied with acacia, baobab trees, some palm trees, miombo plains that covers almost the entire area and tamarinds.
Mikumi National Park borders Mwalimu Nyerere National Park once known as Selous game reserve in the south, also borders the udzungwa and uluguru mountains in the west and north east respectively.
Mikumi National Park can be visited all around the year but most likely if you want to enjoy it then during dry season it’s the best time to visit the park, also you can extend your visit to the rest of the southern circuit parks including Ruaha National Park, Selous game reserve, and include trek and hike activities if you are a fan in uluguru and udzungwa mountains
